Description
A dark, steely colour, Paynes Grey is the colour you use when black is just a little too black. A very useful colour for solid painting, it can also be uses as a glaze or layering paint thanks to its semi-transparent nature.

I use this colour rather black as you can add either dark brown, blue, or green to make a black with the tint needed to blend in with the colour scheme of your painting. This silhouette of a tree has blends of all three colours with the paynes grey in different places.
