Discover the expressive depth of traditional Japanese ink with the Kuretake Gansai Tambi Sumi Colours Set. Drawing on more than 120 years of Kuretake ink-making expertise, these watercolours combine soot with coloured pigments to produce six deep, subdued shades inspired by sumi ink.
Each colour can create smooth tonal gradients from an intense, almost black shade to its underlying colour. Use more water to reveal the pigments and encourage subtle granulation, or apply with less water for a dark, opaque result with the distinctive lustre associated with sumi.
Ideal for sumi-e, illustration, painting, manga, calligraphy, brush lettering and atmospheric mixed-media artwork.
