What is ink used for?
Inks are liquids that can be applied on paper to create drawings and other works of art. Artists often use ink to create beautiful pieces of art, though it can also be used to in writing calligraphy. There are many different colours of ink, which can make the creations of artists even more interesting.
What are 3 types of ink?
There are many types of ink available at Riot. They include Alcohol Ink, Watercolour Ink, Acrylic Ink, and Drawing Ink.
Alcohol Inks are Vibrant due to their alcohol base, and fast drying, and can be used on a wide variety of surfaces. They are impervious to water once dry.
Watercolour Inks (or liquid watercolours) are highly concentrated, vibrant, and transparent dye or pigment-based solutions, often used for intense colour in expressive painting. They can offer unmatched brightness and intense staining, making them excellent for botanical, lettering, and mixed-media projects. Best used with watercolour or drawing papers and pads.
Acrylic Inks are are highly fluid, pigment-based paints that dry quickly, and are permanently, and water-resistant. They offer intense, lightfast colours that, unlike traditional inks, do not fade over time. They will often intermix cleanly.
Drawing Inks are used for illustration, calligraphy, and painting, typically applied with dip pens or brushes. They are available in dye-based (vibrant but fade-prone) or pigment-based (lightfast and permanent) formulas, with some options being waterproof (shellac-based) and others water-soluble.
